Sāma (Sāntva) and Dāna: The Brāhmaṇa’s Conciliatory Release from a Rākṣasa
भवतो भावितात्मत्वाल्लाभो<यं सुमहान् मम । भूयो बुद्ध्यानुपश्यामि सुसमृद्धतपा इव
bhavato bhāvitātmatvāl lābho ’yaṃ sumahān mama | bhūyo buddhyānupaśyāmi susamṛddhatapā iva ||
ମୈତ୍ରେୟ କହିଲେ—ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଆତ୍ମା ସୁସଂସ୍କୃତ ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ମୋ ପାଇଁ ଏହା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ମହାନ୍ ଲାଭ ହେଲା। ପୁନଃ, ଅଧିକ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ବୁଦ୍ଧିରେ ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ ତପସ୍ୟା-ସାଧନାରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇଥିବା ମହର୍ଷି ପରି ଦେଖୁଛି।
मैत्रेय उवाच
Inner cultivation (bhāvitātmatva) and mature discipline (tapas) make a person truly worthy of reverence; such refinement benefits others by granting them clarity, confidence, and moral-spiritual insight.
Maitreya addresses the person before him with respect, saying that the encounter has been a great benefit to him; he recognizes, with renewed discernment, the other’s accomplished austerity and inner refinement.
