मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
तत्र शंखपताके द्वे युगान्तं कल्पमेव च । अयुतायुतं तथा पद्म समुद्र च तथा वसेत्
tatra śaṅkha-patāke dve yugāntaṁ kalpam eva ca | ayutāyutaṁ tathā padma samudraṁ ca tathā vaset ||
ସେଠାରେ ବ୍ରତଧାରୀ ପୁରୁଷ ଅପାର କାଳ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବସେ—ଦୁଇ ‘ଶଙ୍ଖ’ ଓ ଦୁଇ ‘ପତାକା’ କାଳ, ତାପରେ ‘ୟୁଗାନ୍ତ’, ‘କଳ୍ପ’, ‘ଅୟୁତାୟୁତ’, ‘ପଦ୍ମ’ ଏବଂ ‘ସମୁଦ୍ର’—ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ବ୍ରହ୍ମଲୋକରେ ଅସାଧାରଣ ଦୀର୍ଘ ନିବାସ, ଯାହା ତାଙ୍କର ନିୟମଧର୍ମର ଫଳ।
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes that steadfast observance of vows (vrata-dharma) yields immense spiritual merit, symbolized by extraordinarily long residence in Brahmaloka measured in traditional vast numerical/time units.
Bhīṣma continues his instruction in Anuśāsana Parva by describing the fruits of a vow-observant life, listing grand cosmological measures of time to convey the magnitude of the reward.
