तमेव चोपजीवेरन्‌ यथैव पितरं तथा । बड़े भाईको उचित है कि वह अपने छोटे भाइयोंको जीविका प्रदान करे तथा उनका पालन-पोषण करे। छोटे भाइयोंका भी कर्तव्य है कि वे सब-के-सब बड़े भाईके सामने नतमस्तक हों और उसकी इच्छाके अनुसार चलें। बड़े भाईको ही पिता मानकर उनके आश्रयमें जीवन व्यतीत करें

Transliteration

tam eva copajīveran yathaiva pitaraṃ tathā |

Translation

ଭୀଷ୍ମ ଶିଖାଇଲେ—କନିଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାମାନେ ପିତାଙ୍କ ଆଶ୍ରୟରେ ଯେପରି ଜୀବନ ଯାପନ କରନ୍ତି, ସେପରି ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାଙ୍କ ଆଶ୍ରୟରେ ରହିବା ଉଚିତ୍। ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାଙ୍କ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ—ଛୋଟମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜୀବିକା ଦେଇ ପାଳନ-ପୋଷଣ କରିବା। ଏବଂ କନିଷ୍ଠମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ—ସମସ୍ତେ ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖେ ନମସ୍କାର କରି, ତାଙ୍କ ଇଚ୍ଛାନୁସାରେ ଚାଲି, ତାଙ୍କୁ ପିତା ମାନି ତାଙ୍କ ରକ୍ଷାରେ ଜୀବନ କାଟିବା।
