अष्टाब्दाद् एकरात्रेण शुद्धिः स्याद् बान्धवस्य तु द्वादशाब्दात्ततश्चार्वाक् त्रिरात्रं स्त्रीषु सुव्रताः
aṣṭābdād ekarātreṇa śuddhiḥ syād bāndhavasya tu dvādaśābdāttataścārvāk trirātraṃ strīṣu suvratāḥ
ଆଠ ବର୍ଷ ପରେ ବାନ୍ଧବଙ୍କ (ମୃତ୍ୟୁ-ଅଶୌଚ) ଶୁଦ୍ଧି ଏକ ରାତ୍ରିରେ ହୁଏ। କିନ୍ତୁ ବାରୋ ବର୍ଷରୁ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱେ, ସୁବ୍ରତା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ତିନି ରାତ୍ରି ଶୁଦ୍ଧି ପାଳନ କରିବାକୁ କୁହାଯାଇଛି।
