kastvaṃ vadeti hastena samutthāpya sanātanam tadā hastaprahāreṇa tīvreṇa sa dṛḍhena tu
Sūta (narrating the internal episode of Brahmā–Viṣṇu confronting the Liṅga/Śiva)
It frames the Liṅga as the “Sanātana” (Eternal) reality beyond egoic challenge—worship begins with humility before Pati (Śiva), not with dominance or testing.
Śiva-tattva is indicated as Sanātana—beginningless and unsurpassable; the act of striking symbolizes the limited pashu-consciousness attempting to measure or confront the limitless Pati.
No direct ritual is prescribed here; the takeaway is yogic: abandon ahaṅkāra (ego) and approach the Liṅga with śaraṇāgati (surrender), the inner prerequisite for Pāśupata-oriented sādhana.
