Chapter 248: धनुर्वेदः (Dhanurveda — Science of War and Archery Discipline)
ଭଗବାନ ଅଗ୍ନି ଧନୁର୍ବେଦର ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଯୁଦ୍ଧବିଦ୍ୟାକୁ ‘ଚତୁଷ୍ପାଦ’ ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି—ରଥ, ଗଜ, ଅଶ୍ୱ ଓ ପଦାତି ଚାରି ସେନାଅଙ୍ଗ ଅନୁସାରେ। ବେଦୀୟ ଶିକ୍ଷାପଦ୍ଧତିରେ ଅସ୍ତ୍ର-ପ୍ରୟୋଗ ‘ପଞ୍ଚବିଧ’: ପ୍ରକ୍ଷେପ୍ୟ (ଛାଡ଼ି ମାରିବା), ପାଣିମୁକ୍ତ (ହାତରେ ଫିଙ୍ଗିବା), ଯନ୍ତ୍ରମୁକ୍ତ (ଯନ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଛାଡ଼ିବା), ଅମୁକ୍ତ (ଛାଡ଼ିନଥାଇ ବ୍ୟବହାର), ଏବଂ ନିରାସ୍ତ୍ର ବାହୁଯୁଦ୍ଧ। ପରେ ଶସ୍ତ୍ର–ଅସ୍ତ୍ର ଭେଦ ଓ ସରଳ ବନାମ ମାୟା/ଛଳ ବିଧି ବ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟା କରି ଯନ୍ତ୍ରମୁକ୍ତ, ପାଣିମୁକ୍ତ ଆଦି ଉଦାହରଣ ଦିଆଯାଏ। ତାପରେ କବଚାଦି ରକ୍ଷାସଜ୍ଜା, ଧନୁଷ-କେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ ଓ ଶୂଳ-କେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ କ୍ରମବଦ୍ଧ ସଂଘର୍ଷ, ଏବଂ ଶିକ୍ଷାକ୍ରମ—ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣ ଗୁରୁ ହୋଇ କ୍ଷତ୍ରିୟ/ବୈଶ୍ୟଙ୍କୁ ଶିଖାଇବେ; ଶୂଦ୍ର ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଭ୍ୟାସ, ପ୍ରଶିକ୍ଷଣ ଓ ରାଜସହାୟକ ସେବାରେ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ—ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ। ସମପଦ, ବୈଶାଖ, ମଣ୍ଡଳ, ଆଳୀଢ, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଳୀଢ, ବିକଟ, ସମ୍ପୁଟ ଆଦି ଭଙ୍ଗୀ-ମାପ ଓ ଧନୁର୍ବିଦ୍ୟା ପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା—ନମସ୍କାର, ଜ୍ୟା ବାନ୍ଧିବା ଅବକାଶ, ନାଭି/କଟି ସ୍ଥାପନ, ଚକ୍ଷୁ–କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରେଖାରେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ, ଆଙ୍ଗୁଠି ଧରଣ, ଟାଣି ଛାଡ଼ିବା, ଅନୁସରଣ ଓ ମୂଲ୍ୟାଙ୍କନ—ବିସ୍ତାରରେ ଅଛି। ବାଣ ଓ ଧନୁଷର ମାନ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଧାରଣ କରି ଅଶ୍ୱ-ରଥ-ଗଜ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହି ସିଦ୍ଧାନ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାର କରାଯାଇ ଯୁଦ୍ଧକଳାକୁ ଧର୍ମନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରିତ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରଶିକ୍ଷା ବୋଲି ପ୍ରତିପାଦନ କରାଯାଏ।
