Mahā-dānāni (The Great Gifts) — Ṣoḍaśa Mahādāna, Meru-dāna, and Dhenū-dāna Procedure
ଦାନର ଲକ୍ଷଣ ପରେ ଅଗ୍ନିଦେବ ମହାଦାନର ସୁସଂଗଠିତ ବିଧି କହନ୍ତି। ତୁଳାପୁରୁଷ ଓ ହିରଣ୍ୟଗର୍ଭ ଆଦିରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଷୋଡଶ ମହାଦାନ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ—ବ୍ରହ୍ମାଣ୍ଡ ପ୍ରତିରୂପ, କଳ୍ପବୃକ୍ଷ/କଳ୍ପଲତା, ଗୋ-ସହସ୍ର, ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାମଧେନୁ, ଅଶ୍ୱ, ରଥ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ସୁବର୍ଣ୍ଣନିର୍ମିତ ଦାନ, ଏବଂ ବିଶ୍ୱଚକ୍ର, ସପ୍ତସାଗର ମଡେଲ୍ ପରି ଆଚାରାନୁଷ୍ଠାନିକ ଅର୍ପଣ। ପରେ ‘ମେରୁ-ଦାନ’ ପର୍ବତଦାନରୂପେ—ଧାନ୍ୟ, ଲବଣ, ଗୁଡ଼, ସୁନା, ତିଳ, କପାସ, ଘିଅ, ରୂପା, ଚିନି ଆଦିକୁ ଦ୍ରୋଣ, ଭାର, ପଲ, ତୁଳା ପରି ନିର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଟ ମାପରେ ମଣ୍ଡପ-ମଣ୍ଡଳରେ ଦେବପୂଜା ପରେ ଗଢ଼ି ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣଙ୍କୁ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିବାକୁ କୁହାଯାଇଛି। ତାପରେ ଦଶ ପ୍ରକାର ଧେନୁ-ଦାନ (ଗୁଡ଼-, ଘୃତ-, ତିଳ-, ଜଳ-, କ୍ଷୀର-, ମଧୁ-ଧେନୁ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି) — ଘଡ଼ା କିମ୍ବା ଢେର ଦ୍ୱାରା ନିର୍ମାଣ, ଦିଗନିୟମ (ଗାଈ ପୂର୍ବମୁଖୀ, ପାଦ ଉତ୍ତରାଭିମୁଖ), ଏବଂ ବିଶେଷତଃ ଗୁଡ଼ଧେନୁର ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ, ବର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଆଦିର ସୂକ୍ଷ୍ମ ପ୍ରତିମାବିଧାନ। ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀକେନ୍ଦ୍ରିତ ମନ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଧେନୁରୂପା ଦେବୀଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱାହା/ସ୍ୱଧା ଓ ବିଶ୍ୱଶକ୍ତି ସହ ଏକାତ୍ମ କରି ଦାନ ସମାପ୍ତ ହୁଏ। ଫଳଶ୍ରୁତିରେ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗଲାଭ, କପିଳା ଗୋଦାନରେ ବଂଶୋନ୍ନତି, ଏବଂ ମୃତ୍ୟୁସମୀପେ ବୈତରଣୀ-ଧେନୁ ଯମଦ୍ୱାରେ ପାରହେବାର ସାହାଯ୍ୟ—ବୋଲି ବିଧିଶୁଦ୍ଧିକୁ ମୋକ୍ଷାଶ୍ୱାସ ସହ ଯୋଡ଼ାଯାଇଛି।
