ଏହି ଅଧ୍ୟାୟରେ ଭଗବାନ ଅଗ୍ନି ଗାଥାକୁ ଆଧାର କରି ‘ପ୍ରସ୍ତାର’କୁ ଛନ୍ଦର ସମସ୍ତ ସମ୍ଭାବ୍ୟ ରୂପ ଗଣନା ପାଇଁ ନିୟମବଦ୍ଧ ପଦ୍ଧତି ଭାବେ ସ୍ଥାପନ କରନ୍ତି। କ୍ରମ ଉତ୍ପାଦନ ଓ ତୁଳନା ସହିତ ନଷ୍ଟ (ସୂଚକାଙ୍କରୁ ରୂପକୁ ପଛଦିଗରୁ ନିର୍ଣ୍ଣୟ) ଏବଂ ଉଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ (ଆଗକୁ ବଢ଼ି କ୍ରମେ ଗଣନା) ପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା, ସମ/ବିଷମ ନିୟମ, ଅର୍ଧୀକରଣ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ଓ ଗଣନା-ସଂଶୋଧନ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣିତ। ପରେ ମେରୁ-ପ୍ରସ୍ତାର (ପାସ୍କାଲ ସଦୃଶ ବିନ୍ୟାସ) ସହ ସମ୍ପର୍କ ଦେଖାଇ ‘ଛନ୍ଦର ସାର’ କୁହାଯାଏ—ସଂଖ୍ୟା ଦ୍ୱିଗୁଣ ହୋଇ ଗୋଟିଏ କମେ, ଏବଂ ଅଧ୍ୱା/ଅଙ୍ଗୁଳ ଉପମାରେ ଆରୋହ-ଅବରୋହ କ୍ରମରେ ଫଳ ନିଷ୍ପନ୍ନ ହୁଏ। ଏହା ଛନ୍ଦ-ଗଣିତକୁ ପବିତ୍ର ଶୃଙ୍ଖଳା ଭାବେ ଦେଖାଇ ପାଠଶୁଦ୍ଧି ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଅନୁମୋଦିତ ରୂପର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥିତ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଦିଏ।
