ଭଗବାନ ଅଗ୍ନି ବସିଷ୍ଠଙ୍କୁ ଛନ୍ଦଃଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ଶିକ୍ଷାରେ ବିଷମ ଛନ୍ଦରୁ ଅଗ୍ରସର କରି ଅର୍ଧସମ (ହାଫ୍-ଇକ୍ୱାଲ୍) ଛନ୍ଦମାନଙ୍କର ବର୍ଗୀକରଣ ବ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟା କରନ୍ତି। ଆରମ୍ଭରେ ଉପଚିତ୍ରକ, ସସମାନା, ଭୋଜଭାଗା, ଦ୍ରୁତମଧ୍ୟା, ଭଗାଗଥା, ଉନନା, ଜୟା ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ଛନ୍ଦନାମ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ କରି, ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚିହ୍ନିବା/ଗଢ଼ିବା ପାଇଁ ଗଣ-କ୍ରମ ଓ ନାମିତ ଲୟ-ପ୍ରତିରୂପ ଦିଆଯାଏ। ପରେ ଆଖ୍ୟାନିକା ଛନ୍ଦ-ମୋଡ୍ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ବିପରୀତ (ଉଲ୍ଟା) ରୂପକୁ ପୃଥକ କରି ରାଜସା, ଗୋଗଥା, ଦ୍ରୋଣ, କେତୁମତୀ, ଜଗାଗଥା, ତତଜଗାଗଥା ଆଦି ଉଦାହରଣ ଦିଆଯାଏ; ଧରିଣବଲ୍ଲଭା, ଅପରାକ୍ରମ, ପୁଷ୍ପିତା ପରି ଅନ୍ୟ ନାମରୂପ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସେ। ଶେଷରେ ସମବୃତ୍ତ ଗଠନକୁ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଗଣ-କ୍ରମ ଓ ମାତ୍ରା-ଗଣନା (ନାଗ ଏକକ) ସହ ଦେଖାଇ, ତାହାର ରିଭର୍ସ ରୂପ ‘ଖଞ୍ଜା’ ମଧ୍ୟ କୁହାଯାଏ; ଏହା ଛନ୍ଦବିଜ୍ଞାନକୁ ଶିଷ୍ଟ ବାଣୀ ଓ ଧାର୍ମିକ ସଂସ୍କୃତି ସହ ଯୁକ୍ତ ସଠିକ୍, ପୁନଃନିର୍ମେୟ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ଭାବେ ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠା କରେ।
