Harihara Revelation and the Tirtha-Glorification of Saptasarasvata in Kurukshetra
तमूचुर्नैव पश्यामस्त्वत्तो वै त्रिपुरान्तकम् सत्यं वद सुरेशान महेशानः क्व तिष्ठति
tamūcurnaiva paśyāmastvatto vai tripurāntakam satyaṃ vada sureśāna maheśānaḥ kva tiṣṭhati

Tripurāntaka is Śiva as the destroyer of Tripura, a classic Purāṇic emblem of Śiva’s supreme power. Using this epithet heightens the Devas’ doubt: they cannot reconcile the famed, mighty Śiva with an unseen, subtle presence ‘within’ Viṣṇu.
Grammatically it is “from you,” but in such dialogic contexts it functions idiomatically to mean “in relation to you / within you (as you claim).” The sense is: “We do not see him in you as you have stated.”
It marks a formal challenge that prompts revelation. In Purāṇic dialogues, ‘speak the truth’ often signals that a deeper teaching or a demonstrative miracle/vision is about to follow, moving from claim to experiential proof.
