Yogatattva
जायन्ते योगिनो देहे तानि वक्ष्याम्यशेषतः ।
शरीरलघुता दीप्तिर्जाठराग्निविवर्धनम् ॥
कृशत्वं च शरीरस्य तदा जायेत निश्चितम् ।
योगाविघ्नकराहारं वर्जयेद्योगवित्तमः ॥
लवणं सर्षपं चाम्लमुष्णं रूक्षं च तीक्ष्णकम् ।
शाकजातं रामठादि वह्निस्त्रीपथसेवनम् ॥
प्रातःस्नानोपवासादिकायक्लेशांश्च वर्जयेत् ।
अभ्यासकाले प्रथमं शस्तं क्षीराज्यभोजनम् ॥
गोधूममुद्गशाल्यन्नं योगवृद्धिकरं विदुः ।
ततः परं यथेष्टं तु शक्तः स्याद्वायुधारणे ॥

शरीर-लघुता । दीप्तिः । जाठर-अग्नि-विवर्धनम् ।

शाक-जातम् । रामठ-आदि । वह्नि । स्त्री-पथ-सेवनम् ।
प्रातः-स्नान । उपवास-आदि । काय-क्लेशान् । च । वर्जयेत् ।
अभ्यास-काले । प्रथमम् । शस्तम् । क्षीर-आज्य-भोजनम् ।
गोधूमम् । मुद्गम् । शालि-अन्नम् । योग-वृद्धि-करम् । विदुः ।
ततः । परम् । यथा-इष्टम् । तु । शक्तः । स्यात् । वायु-धारणे ।
jāyante yogino dehe tāni vakṣyāmyaśeṣataḥ |
śarīralaghutā dīptir jāṭharāgnivivardhanam ||
kṛśatvaṃ ca śarīrasya tadā jāyeta niścitam |
yogāvighnakarāhāraṃ varjayedyogavittamaḥ ||
lavaṇaṃ sarṣapaṃ cāmlamuṣṇaṃ rūkṣaṃ ca tīkṣṇakam |
śākajātaṃ rāmaṭhādi vahni strīpathasevanam ||
prātaḥsnānopavāsādikāyakleśāṃśca varjayet |
abhyāsakāle prathamaṃ śastaṃ kṣīrājyabhojanam ||
godhūmamudgaśālyannaṃ yogavṛddhikaraṃ viduḥ |
tataḥ paraṃ yatheṣṭaṃ tu śaktaḥ syādvāyudhāraṇe ||
ယောဂီ၏ ကိုယ်ခန္ဓာ၌ ဤလက္ခဏာများ ပေါ်ထွန်းလာသည်ဟု ဆို၏; အကုန်အစင် ငါဖော်ပြမည်—ကိုယ်ခန္ဓာပေါ့ပါးခြင်း၊ အတွင်းအလင်းရောင်တောက်ပခြင်း၊ နှင့် အစာချေမီး (jatharāgni) တိုးပွားခြင်း။ ထို့နောက် ကိုယ်ခန္ဓာ ပိန်ပါးခြင်းလည်း သေချာစွာ ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာသည်။ ယောဂကို အကောင်းဆုံးသိသူသည် ယောဂကို အနှောင့်အယှက်ဖြစ်စေသော အစားအစာများကို ရှောင်ရမည်—ဆား၊ မတ်စတာဒ်၊ ချဉ်သောအရာ၊ အလွန်စပ်ပူသောအရာ၊ ခြောက်သွေ့သောအရာ၊ နှင့် ထိခိုက်ယားယံစေသော အရာများ; အရွက်ဟင်းသီးဟင်းရွက်များနှင့် ရာမဋ္ဌ (rāmaṭha) စသည့်အရာများ; မီး/အပူလွန်ကဲမှု၊ မိန်းမနှင့် ဆက်ဆံမှု (ကာမဆက်ဆံခြင်း သို့မဟုတ် အလွန်ရင်းနှီးခြင်း) နှင့် လမ်းခရီးသွားလာမှု။ ထို့ပြင် မနက်စောစော ရေချိုးခြင်း၊ အစာရှောင်ခြင်း စသည့် ကိုယ်ခန္ဓာကို ညှဉ်းပန်းသည့် အကျင့်များကိုလည်း ရှောင်ရမည်။ လေ့ကျင့်မှုအစပိုင်းတွင် နို့နှင့် ဂီ (ghee) ကို အစာအဖြစ် သင့်တော်ဟု ဆို၏။ ဂျုံ၊ မုန့်ပဲ (mung) နှင့် ဆန်တို့သည် ယောဂတိုးတက်စေသည်ဟု သိကြသည်။ ထို့နောက် မိမိဆန္ဒအတိုင်း; ထိုသူသည် ပရాణ (အသက်ရှူ) ကို ထိန်းထားနိုင်စွမ်း ရရှိလာသည်။
In the yogin’s body these (signs) arise; I shall state them without remainder: lightness of the body, radiance, and increase of the gastric fire. And leanness of the body then certainly arises. The best knower of yoga should avoid food that causes obstacles to yoga: salt, mustard, sour (foods), hot (pungent) items, dry items, and sharp/irritant (foods); leafy vegetables, (items like) rāmaṭha and the like; fire (i.e., excessive heat/exposure), intercourse/association with women, and travel on the road. One should also avoid bodily mortifications such as early-morning bathing and fasting. At the beginning of practice, milk and ghee are recommended as food. Wheat, mung-beans, and rice are known to promote the growth of yoga. Thereafter, as one wishes; one becomes capable of retention of the breath.
