Verse 12

Aitreya

स एतमेव सीमानं विदर्यैतया द्वारा प्रापद्यत। सैषा विदृतिर्नाम द्वाः। तदेतन्नाऽन्दनम्। तस्य त्रय आवसथास्त्रयः स्वप्नाः—अयमावसथोऽयमावसथोऽयमावसथ इति॥१२॥

सः । एतम् । एव । सीमानम् । विदर्य । एतया । द्वारा । प्रापद्यत । सा । एषा । विदृतिः । नाम । द्वाः । तत् । एतत् । न । आनन्दनम् । तस्य । त्रयः । आवसथाः । त्रयः । स्वप्नाः । अयम् । आवसथः । अयम् । आवसथः । अयम् । आवसथः । इति ॥ १२ ॥

sa etam eva sīmānaṃ vidaryaitayā dvārā prāpadyata | saiṣā vidṛtir nāma dvāḥ | tad etan nā’nandanam | tasya traya āvasathās trayaḥ svapnāḥ—ayam āvasatho’yam āvasatho’yam āvasatha iti ||12||

The Self broke through the final limit and entered through a subtle doorway—the ‘cleft.’ This is spoken of as the seat of delight. For the embodied Self there are three dwelling-states, three dream-like modes of experience—three stations of consciousness.

He split open this very boundary and entered by this door. This door is called ‘the cleft’ (vidṛti). This indeed is ‘the place of bliss’ (nā’nandanam). For him there are three abodes, three dreams: ‘this is an abode, this is an abode, this is an abode,’ thus (it is said).
