Sūta Gosvāmin (narrative colophon concluding the chapter, addressed to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya by convention)
This is a concluding colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it signals that the Kirāta-avatāra narrative is a purposeful teaching—Śiva, as Pati (the Lord), may assume a Saguna form to test and refine the devotee’s ego into surrender and grace.
By naming the Kirāta incarnation, it points to Saguna Śiva—Śiva compassionately taking an accessible form for the devotee’s transformation. Such narratives support Linga-worship by showing that the same Supreme Śiva, worshipped as the Linga, also manifests in forms to bestow anugraha (divine grace).
While this line itself is a chapter-end marker, the Kirāta theme traditionally supports steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with humility, and disciplined worship (e.g., Tripuṇḍra bhasma and Rudrākṣa) as aids to inner purification and devotion.
