Bharata’s Reproach of Kaikeyi and the Surabhi Exemplum
अहं ह्यपचितिं भ्रातुः पितुश्च सकलामिमाम्।वर्धनं यशसश्चापि करिष्यामि न संशयः।।।।
ahaṃ hy apacitiṃ bhrātuḥ pituś ca sakalām imām |
vardhanaṃ yaśasaś cāpi kariṣyāmi na saṃśayaḥ ||
ငါသည် ငါ့အစ်ကိုနှင့် ငါ့ဖခင်တို့အတွက် အပြည့်အဝ အပြစ်ဖြေခြင်းကို ပြုလုပ်မည်ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ သူတို့၏ ဂုဏ်သတင်းကိုလည်း တိုးပွားစေမည်မှာ အမှန်ပင်ဖြစ်သည်။
If I fail to bring back the mighty son of Kausalya, I shall enter the forest frequented byascetics.
Dharma requires restitution: when harm occurs within a family and kingdom, a righteous person seeks atonement and the restoration of rightful order and reputation.
Bharata declares his resolve to undo the wrong done to Rama and Dasharatha by taking corrective action and repairing honour.
Responsibility and integrity: Bharata accepts the burden of setting things right rather than enjoying power gained through injustice.
