Dharmāṅgada’s Discourse (Dharmāṅgadopadeśa) in the Mohinī Episode
dharmajñaṃ vinayopetaṃ prajāraṃjanakārakam | aprajaṃ ca sutaṃ hatvā kā gatirme bhaviṣyāti || 25 ||
A remorseful father/king (narrative voice within the Adhyaya; speaking in lamentation)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It highlights the heavy karmic burden of harming a dharma-knowing, humble, public-benefiting person, and shows how remorse arises as the first inner turning toward accountability and expiation (prāyaścitta).
Indirectly: by exposing fear and remorse born of adharma, it prepares the seeker for surrender to Bhagavan and for remedial acts—typical Purāṇic movement from sin-awareness to purification and renewed devotion.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this line; the practical takeaway is dharma-ethics and the need for prāyaścitta procedures when grave wrongdoing occurs.
