Adhyaya 50 — Mind-Born Progeny, Svayambhuva Manu’s Lineage, and Brahmā’s Ordinance to Duḥsaha (Alakṣmī’s Retinue)
माया च वेदना चैव मिथुनं द्वयमेतयोः ।
तयोरजज्ञेऽथ वै माया मृत्युं भूतापहारिणम् ॥
māyā ca vedanā caiva mithunaṃ dvayam etayoḥ | tayor jajñe 'tha vai māyā mṛtyuṃ bhūtāpahāriṇam ||
မာယာ (Māyā: မောဟ/လှည့်ဖြားမှု) နှင့် ဝေဒနာ (Vedanā: နာကျင်မှု/ခံစားချက်) တို့သည် အတွဲဖြစ်လာကြ၏။ ထိုနှစ်ပါးမှ မာယာ (ထပ်မံ၍ သားသမီးအဖြစ်) မွေးဖွားလာပြီး၊ ထို့နောက် သက်ရှိတို့ကို ခေါ်ယူသွားသူ မృတျု (Mṛtyu: သေခြင်း) ပေါ်ထွန်းလာ၏။

Delusion and pain reinforce each other and culminate in the inevitability of death; the verse suggests that ignorance (māyā) intensifies suffering (vedanā), making beings more vulnerable to the ‘carrying off’ power of mortality.
