Adhyaya 50 — Mind-Born Progeny, Svayambhuva Manu’s Lineage, and Brahmā’s Ordinance to Duḥsaha (Alakṣmī’s Retinue)
kanye dve ca tathā ṛddhiṃ prasūtiṃ ca tataḥ pitā | dadau prasūtiṃ dakṣāya tathā ṛddhiṃ ruceḥ purā ||
Marriage is portrayed as a cosmic mechanism for orderly proliferation—alliances link prajāpatis and stabilize creation through sanctioned relationships.
Vaṃśa: establishing interlinked genealogies (Dakṣa, Ruci) that become major progenitors in later Purāṇic narratives.
Names like Ṛddhi (prosperity) and Prasūti (procreation) encode functions: abundance and generation are personified and ‘placed’ into the cosmic household through prajāpati unions.
