Reconciling Contingency and Human Effort

na hi tvaṁ nābhijānāsi mama vikramam acyuta

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical tension between restraint and righteous action: Bhīma insists that when dharma is threatened, decisive strength and accountability must not be discounted, even by trusted counsel.

In the lead-up to the Kurukṣetra conflict, Bhīma addresses Kṛṣṇa (Acyuta), asserting that Kṛṣṇa does not fully grasp the extent of Bhīma’s martial power and determination—an emphatic push toward firm action rather than delay.
