अध्याय १६९ — भीष्मस्य पाण्डवसेनाप्रशंसा तथा शिखण्डिविषये नियमः
Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Pāṇḍava Forces and His Constraint Regarding Śikhaṇḍin
कारणं प्राप्य तु नरा: सर्व एव महाभुजा: । शूरा वा कातरा वापि भवन्ति कुरुपुड्व,कुरुश्रेष्ठ॒ कोई कारण पाकर प्रायः सभी महाबाहु मानव शूर अथवा कायर हो जाते हैं
kāraṇaṁ prāpya tu narāḥ sarva eva mahābhujāḥ | śūrā vā kātarā vāpi bhavanti kuru-puṅgava ||
ဘီရှ္မက ပြောသည်– «ကူရုတို့အနက် နွားထီးကဲ့သို့ ထင်ရှားသူရေ၊ အကြောင်းအရာတစ်ခုက ဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်ဖြစ်လာသောအခါ လူတို့အားလုံး—လက်မောင်းကြီးသန်မာသူများတောင်—ရဲရင့်သူဖြစ်မလား ကြောက်ရွံ့သူဖြစ်မလား ထင်ရှားလာတတ်သည်။ အခြေအနေနှင့် ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ကပင် သတ္တိ သို့မဟုတ် ကြောက်လန့်မှုကို ထုတ်ဖော်ကာ စမ်းသပ်ချိန်၌ လူ၏အတွင်းစိတ်အဆုံးအဖြတ်ကို ဖော်ပြပေးသည်»။
