The verse highlights an ethical ideal: true spiritual stature is marked by tapas (austerity), śānti (inner peace), and yama/niyama-like restraint (disciplined vows). Noble lineage is presented as meaningful when expressed through character and self-control.
Vāsudeva narrates a genealogical and moral-historical sequence: Satyavatī gives birth to Jamadagni, identified as a Bhārgava sage distinguished by austerity, tranquility, and disciplined conduct.
