Resolve for the Mace Duel
अहमुत्थाय सर्वान् वै प्रतियोत्स्यामि संयुगे । अनुगम्यागतान् सवनितून् संवत्सरो यथा,“मैं उठकर रणभूमिमें एक-एक करके आये हुए तुम सब लोगोंके साथ युद्ध करूँगा, ठीक उसी तरह, जैसे संवत्सर बारी-बारीसे आये हुए सम्पूर्ण ऋतुओंको ग्रहण करता है
aham utthāya sarvān vai pratiyotsyāmi saṁyuge | anugamyāgatān savanitūn saṁvatsaro yathā |
သဉ္ဇယက ပြော၏—“ငါ ထ၍ စစ်မြေပြင်၌ သင်တို့အားလုံးကို ရင်ဆိုင်တိုက်ခိုက်မည်—တစ်ယောက်ချင်းစီ လာသလို လာသလို အလှည့်ကျ—နှစ်တစ်နှစ်က ရာသီများကို အစဉ်လိုက် လက်ခံသိမ်းပိုက်သကဲ့သို့ပင်။”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast resolve and the sense of inevitability in righteous combat: opponents may come one by one, yet the speaker’s readiness is constant, likened to time’s orderly progression through the seasons.
In the midst of the Shalya Parva war setting, a warrior’s determination is reported: he declares he will rise and meet all challengers as they approach in succession, using the year-and-seasons simile to stress regularity and certainty.
