The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
महद्धि भरतश्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणस्तीर्थमुच्यते । वेलायां न तु कस्यांचिद् गच्छेद् विप्रो हपूजित:
mahaddhi bharataśreṣṭha brāhmaṇas tīrtham ucyate | velāyāṃ na tu kasyāñcid gacched vipro hy apūjitaḥ ||
ဘီṣ္မက မိန့်တော်မူသည်—«အို ဘာရတမျိုး၏ အကောင်းဆုံးသူ၊ ဗြာဟ္မဏသည် အလွန်ကြီးမြတ်သော တီရ္ထ (သန့်ရှင်းရာကူးကန်/သန့်ရှင်းသော ဖြတ်ကူးရာ) ဟု ခေါ်ကြသည်။ ထို့ကြောင့် မည်သည့်အချိန်၌မဆို ဗြာဟ္မဏတစ်ပါး ရောက်လာလျှင် ဂုဏ်ပြုဧည့်ခံခြင်းမရှိဘဲ ထွက်ခွာစေမည် မဟုတ်။ သူရောက်လာသမျှ အခါတိုင်း သင့်တော်သော ဧည့်ခံမှုမရှိဘဲ ပြန်လွှတ်မထားရ»။

In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and right conduct. Here he emphasizes the ethical duty of hospitality: whenever a Brāhmaṇa arrives, he should be duly honored and not dismissed without respect.
