अंगियरा उवाच
This line is a colophon marking the close of a chapter whose theme is upavāsa-vidhi—ethical and ritual discipline around fasting—situated within the broader instruction on dāna-dharma (the moral law of giving). It frames fasting as a regulated practice within dharma rather than mere self-denial.
The verse functions as a formal closing statement: it identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the book (Anuśāsana Parvan), the internal section (Dāna-dharma Parvan), and the chapter topic (rules of fasting), and then declares the chapter number as completed.
