Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Pratyaṅgirā-vidyā: saṃjñā with vaṣaḍ and ‘ña’ insertion (pūrvapada)","lookup_keywords":["Pratyaṅgirā","vidyā-mantra","saṃjñā","vaṣaḍ","ña"],"quick_summary":"Maintain the vidyā’s syllabic order, add the designated saṃjñā ending in vaṣaḍ, and insert ‘ña’ in the prior member; this lower placement constitutes Pratyaṅgirā for accomplishing desired aims."}

Concept: Mantra-siddhi depends on preserving akṣara-krama while applying sanctioned insertions (saṃjñā, vaṣaḍ, bīja additions) and correct nyāsa placement.

Application: When performing Pratyaṅgirā prayoga, do not scramble syllables; add the specified ‘ña’ and vaṣaḍ-ending marker exactly where taught to align the mantra’s function (sarvakāma-sādhana).

FAQs

It gives a mantra-construction/nyāsa rule: keep the mantra’s syllables in their prescribed order, append a designation ending with the vaṣaṭ-formula, and insert the syllable ‘ña’ in the prior segment—forming the Pratyaṅgirā-vidyā arrangement for practical siddhi.

Beyond mythology, it preserves operational details of mantra-śāstra—seed-syllable insertion, formula endings like vaṣaṭ, and positional placement (adhastāt)—showing the Agni Purana as a compendium of applied ritual and tantric technique.

The verse frames Pratyaṅgirā as a siddhi-yielding protective power: correct mantra-order and proper bīja/formula placement are presented as the means to lawfully obtain desired outcomes (kāma/artha) through sanctioned ritual discipline.
