अथ बहूदका नाम त्रिदण्डकमण्डलुशिखायज्ञोपवीतकाषायवस्त्रधारिणो ब्रह्मर्षिगृहे मधुमांसं वर्जयित्वाष्टौ ग्रासान् भैक्षाचरणं कृत्वा योगमार्गे मोक्षमेव प्रार्थयन्ते॥३॥
अथ । बहूदकाः । नाम । त्रि-दण्ड-कमण्डलु-शिखा-यज्ञोपवीत-काषाय-वस्त्र-धारिणः । ब्रह्म-ऋषि-गृहे । मधु । मांसम् । वर्जयित्वा । अष्टौ । ग्रासान् । भैक्ष-अचरणम् । कृत्वा । योग-मार्गे । मोक्षम् । एव । प्रार्थयन्ते ॥३॥
atha bahūdakā nāma tri-daṇḍa-kamaṇḍalu-śikhā-yajñopavīta-kāṣāya-vastra-dhāriṇo brahmarṣi-gṛhe madhu-māṁsaṁ varjayitvā 'ṣṭau grāsān bhaikṣācaraṇaṁ kṛtvā yoga-mārge mokṣam eva prārthayante ||3||
Adapun yang disebut Bahūdaka—memegang tongkat tiga, membawa kamandalu, berambut sanggul, memakai benang suci dan jubah oker—di rumah brahmarṣi menjauhi madu dan daging; setelah berkeliling meminta sedekah dengan lapan suapan, di jalan yoga mereka memohon moksha semata-mata.
Now, those called Bahūdakas—bearing the triple staff, water-pot, topknot, sacred thread, and ochre cloth—having avoided honey and meat in the house of a brahmarṣi, and having practiced alms-round taking eight mouthfuls, seek liberation alone on the path of yoga.
