चिराय यत्कृतं सौम्य चिरमस्मिन् दुःखितः । गाथाश्चाप्यब्रवीद्विद्वान्गौतमो मुनिसत्तमः
cirāya yatkṛtaṃ saumya ciramasmin duḥkhitaḥ | gāthāścāpyabravīdvidvāngautamo munisattamaḥ
“Wahai yang lembut budi, kerana perbuatan itu ditangguhkan, aku telah lama berdukacita.” Demikianlah Gautama yang bijaksana, terbaik antara para muni, turut melafazkan bait-bait (gāthā).
