Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 133

अपि कल्पसहस्रायुर्नैव ज्ञेयमवाप्नुयात् । त्यक्तसंगो जितक्रोधो लब्धाहारो जितेंद्रियः

api kalpasahasrāyurnaiva jñeyamavāpnuyāt | tyaktasaṃgo jitakrodho labdhāhāro jiteṃdriyaḥ

Walaupun seseorang hidup seribu kalpa, dia tetap tidak mencapai yang ‘dapat diketahui’ hanya dengan mengumpul semata-mata. Hendaklah bebas daripada keterikatan, menakluk kemarahan, makan sekadar rezeki yang diperoleh, dan mengekang pancaindera.
