ārādhya paśubhartāraṃ mayā pūrvaṃ maheśvaram | purāṇaṃ śrutametaddhi tatte vakṣyāmyaśeṣataḥ
Setelah dahulu aku bersembah-bakti kepada Mahesvara, Tuhan pemelihara segala makhluk, sesungguhnya aku telah mendengar Purana ini; maka akan aku sampaikan kepadamu seluruhnya tanpa tertinggal sedikit pun.
