It establishes that liberation from saṃsāra is primarily enabled through the Guru’s spiritual knowledge, while the father is honored as the one who initiates one into embodied life, responsibility, and dharma; both are to be revered as supports for the soul’s progress toward Shiva.
In Shaiva practice, the Guru transmits proper understanding of Shiva-tattva and correct methods of Linga-worship (pujā, mantra, and inner attitude). Reverencing father and Guru stabilizes dharma and humility, which makes Saguna Shiva worship fruitful and purifying.
Daily respectful salutations (namaskāra) and service (sevā) to one’s Guru and parents before Shiva-pujā; then perform Linga worship with Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") as taught by the Guru, maintaining gratitude and discipline.
