मंत्राणां जप एवं हि जपमादिक्रमाद्विदुः । सहस्रं ब्राह्मदं विद्याच्छतमैंद्र प्रदं विदुः
maṃtrāṇāṃ japa evaṃ hi japamādikramādviduḥ | sahasraṃ brāhmadaṃ vidyācchatamaiṃdra pradaṃ viduḥ
Demikianlah orang bijaksana mengetahui tertib yang benar bagi japa (ulangan mantra) serta hasilnya: seribu ulangan difahami menganugerahkan buah yang berkaitan dengan Brahmā, manakala seratus ulangan diketahui memberi buah yang berkaitan dengan Indra.

It teaches that japa is not random but has recognized gradations of efficacy; specific disciplines of repetition yield specific karmic-spiritual fruits, preparing the devotee for higher Shaiva realization beyond merely heavenly attainments.
In Vidyeshvara teachings, mantra-japa is a core limb of Saguna Shiva worship—often performed before the Linga—where disciplined repetition steadies the mind, purifies karma, and makes the devotee fit for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
A practical takeaway is counted mantra-japa (saṅkhyā-japa)—such as 100 or 1000 repetitions—done with purity and focus, ideally in a Shiva-puja setting (with Linga worship, bhasma, and Rudraksha where appropriate).
