Gṛhapati’s Vow: Turning Grief into Mṛtyuñjaya–Mahākāla Sādhana (गृहपतेः प्रतिज्ञा—मृत्युंजय-महाकालजपः)
अन्तरात्मा ह्ययं साक्षान्निश्चयो ह्याशुशुक्षणिः । मांसग्रासान्पचेत्कुक्षौ स्त्रीणां नो मांसपेशिकाम्
antarātmā hyayaṃ sākṣānniścayo hyāśuśukṣaṇiḥ | māṃsagrāsānpacetkukṣau strīṇāṃ no māṃsapeśikām
Dia (Tuhan) inilah sesungguhnya Atman Batin, hadir langsung sebagai Saksi; ketetapan-Nya cepat dan tidak pernah meleset. Dia mencerna gumpalan daging di dalam perut—namun jangan sekali-kali memandang wanita sebagai sekadar cebisan daging.

Significance: Establishes Śiva as sākṣin (inner witness) and teaches dharmic vision toward women; supports purity of conduct as a prerequisite for Śiva-anugraha.

It teaches that Shiva, as the Antaratman (Inner Witness), is immediately present within all beings; therefore, spiritual practice must include purified perception and ethical restraint, not merely outward ritual.
Linga worship trains the devotee to recognize Shiva as the formless Witness within forms; this verse applies that insight ethically—seeing Shiva’s presence within persons and abandoning degrading, body-only vision.
Meditate on Shiva as sākṣī (the inner witness) while reciting the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and cultivate brahmacharya-like restraint and reverence in conduct—making inner purity the core of worship.
