(Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Positions mantra-kīrtana/śravaṇa as a universally accessible upāya: purity + repetition/listening generates puṇya and inner śuddhi, ripening the paśu for Śiva’s grace and the fulfillment of legitimate aims.
Type: stotra
It teaches that mantra-practice is not only japa (recitation) but also śravaṇa (listening) and sharing sacred sound; performed with purity, it invites Śiva’s grace and brings both inner purification and the fulfillment of rightful aims.
In Saguna worship, Śiva is approached through accessible supports like the Liṅga and mantra; this verse emphasizes that engaging with the mantra—by reciting or hearing—functions as direct devotion that strengthens Liṅga-upāsanā and deepens Śiva-bhakti.
Maintain śauca (purity), then practice regular mantra-japa; additionally, do śravaṇa by listening to the mantra and chrāvaṇa by reciting it for others—simple, repeatable disciplines often used in daily Śiva-pūjā and Mahāśivarātri observances.
