(Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”

It highlights how people interpret failure either as “misfortune” or as a mysterious vighna (obstruction), pointing the devotee toward a Shaiva view: outcomes are not merely chance—one should seek the Lord’s purpose and take refuge in Shiva’s grace rather than panic over impediments.
In Shiva Purana storytelling, an unexpected vighna often becomes the very reason devotees turn to Saguna Shiva—worshipping the Linga with prayer and surrender—recognizing that Shiva can remove obstacles and also use them to redirect the devotee toward dharma and deeper bhakti.
When obstacles arise, the practical takeaway is to steady the mind with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and perform simple Shiva-upāsanā (Linga worship with water and bilva), cultivating patience and surrender rather than agitation.
