शिवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Śiva-stuti-varṇanam) — “Description of Hymns in Praise of Śiva”
इति शंभोस्तु वचनं श्रुत्वा सर्वे दिवौकसः । विमनस्का बभूवुस्ते हरिश्चापि मुनीश्वर
iti śaṃbhostu vacanaṃ śrutvā sarve divaukasaḥ | vimanaskā babhūvuste hariścāpi munīśvara
Demikianlah, setelah mendengar sabda Śaṃbhu (Tuhan Śiva), semua penghuni syurga menjadi muram; dan Hari (Viṣṇu) juga, wahai resi agung, dipenuhi dukacita.

Sthala Purana: The devas’ dejection after hearing Śiva’s assessment underscores the inevitability of divine governance over cosmic conflict; it is a narrative hinge before supplication.
Significance: Models the devotional psychology of śaraṇāgati: even devas turn inward to seek Śiva’s resolution when confronted with adharma’s consequences.
It highlights the supremacy of Śiva’s will (Śaṃbhu-vacana) and shows that even devas and Viṣṇu respond with humility and gravity when faced with a decisive divine command—pointing the seeker toward surrender (śaraṇāgati) to Pati, the Lord.
By emphasizing Śaṃbhu’s spoken command, the verse reinforces Saguna Śiva’s active lordship in the world—worship of the Liṅga trains the devotee to receive the Lord’s guidance with steadiness, even when outcomes appear difficult.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate mental steadiness through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and offer the day’s anxieties to Śiva in prayer—transforming dejection into disciplined devotion.
