Bāṇāsura’s Praise of Śiva and Petition for Battle
Suta Goswami (narrating the battle episode to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Rudra
It teaches that when Shiva is firmly installed in the heart-lotus through remembrance and devotion, fear and opposition lose their power—inner union with Pati (Shiva) becomes the devotee’s true protection.
While the Linga is worshipped outwardly as Saguna Shiva, the verse points to its inner counterpart—contemplating Shiva within the heart—showing that external worship matures into internal realization and steadfast courage.
Heart-lotus meditation on Shiva—supported by japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady bhakti—so the mind becomes fearless and unwavering like a perfected warrior.
