Bāṇāsura Receives Gaṇapatya; Genealogical Prelude
Suta Goswami (narrating the events to the sages, with the verse reporting the command and Nandi’s action)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights ājñā-pālana (obedience to divine command) and sevā-bhāva (service) as Shaiva virtues—Nandī’s mind-swift action symbolizes unwavering devotion that moves without hesitation toward Pati (Śiva).
Nandī’s immediate approach to Rudra reflects Saguna-upāsanā: relating to Śiva as the personal Lord who can be approached, served, and obeyed—an essential devotional posture that supports Linga worship and temple discipline.
The takeaway is prompt, focused japa and sevā: receive a sankalpa, repeat “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with one-pointedness, and act without delay—mirroring Nandī’s manogati (mind-swift) devotion.
