मृत्युञ्जय-विद्या-प्रादुर्भावः
The Manifestation/Transmission of the Mṛtyuñjaya Vidyā
निर्मलीकृत्य तच्चेतो रत्नं दत्त्वा पिनाकिने । प्रययौ कणधूमौघं सहस्रं शरदां कविः
nirmalīkṛtya tacceto ratnaṃ dattvā pinākine | prayayau kaṇadhūmaughaṃ sahasraṃ śaradāṃ kaviḥ
Setelah menyucikan hatinya, sang penyair mempersembahkan sebutir permata berharga kepada Pinākin (Śiva, pemegang busur Pināka). Sesudah itu ia lenyap ke dalam gugusan zarah halus laksana asap, dan kekal demikian selama seribu musim luruh (tahun).

It emphasizes citta-śuddhi (purification of the mind) as the foundation of Śiva-bhakti: an offering becomes spiritually potent when made with a cleansed, surrendered inner state, aligning the soul (paśu) toward Pati (Śiva).
By naming Śiva as Pinākin, the verse highlights Saguna worship—approaching the Lord through a revered form and attribute—where offerings (like a gem) symbolize devotion and self-giving, which are central to Linga-centered pūjā as well.
The implied practice is inner purification before pūjā—through japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” dhyāna, and sattvic restraint—followed by a sincere offering (dāna/naivedya) made with devotion rather than display.
