शुक्रनिग्रहः — The Seizure/Neutralization of Śukra (Kāvya) and the Daityas’ Despondency
अंधक उवाच । कविं विक्रम्य नयता नन्दिना वंचिता वयम् । तनूर्विना कृताः प्राणास्सर्वेषामद्य नो ननु
aṃdhaka uvāca | kaviṃ vikramya nayatā nandinā vaṃcitā vayam | tanūrvinā kṛtāḥ prāṇāssarveṣāmadya no nanu
Andhaka
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Andhaka’s lament shows how adharma-driven power collapses when confronted by Shiva’s dharmic forces; in Shaiva Siddhanta terms, the bound soul (paśu) loses stability when it clings to ego and hostility rather than seeking Shiva (Pati) as refuge.
Nandin is a foremost attendant of Saguna Shiva and guardian of Shiva’s order; the verse highlights that opposing Shiva’s devotees and dharmic command leads to inner disintegration, while honoring Shiva’s presence (often approached through Linga worship) restores spiritual support.
A practical takeaway is to counter ego and agitation with Shiva-bhakti—japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” along with reverence to Nandi and disciplined conduct, which aligns the prāṇa and mind toward Shiva.
