Genealogy and Nature
तुष्टः पिनाकी तपसास्य सम्यग्वरप्रदानाय ययौ द्विजेन्द्र । तत्स्थानमासाद्य वृषध्वजोऽसौ जगाद दैत्यप्रवरं महेशः
tuṣṭaḥ pinākī tapasāsya samyagvarapradānāya yayau dvijendra | tatsthānamāsādya vṛṣadhvajo'sau jagāda daityapravaraṃ maheśaḥ
Berkenan akan tapa yang keras itu, Pinākī (Dewa Śiva), dengan niat mengurniakan anugerah, pun berangkat ke sana, wahai yang terbaik antara kaum dwija. Setelah tiba di tempat itu, Mahēśa yang berpanji Lembu suci bertitah kepada yang terunggul antara para Dāitya.

The verse highlights Śiva as the compassionate Pati (Lord) who responds when tapas is performed with steadiness and sincerity—His grace (anugraha) manifests as direct presence and guidance, not merely as a reward.
It reflects Saguna Śiva’s accessible form—Pinākī, Vṛṣadhvaja, Mahēśa—who personally approaches the seeker. In Liṅga-worship, the same nearness is sought: disciplined devotion invites Śiva’s anugraha and instruction.
The takeaway is disciplined tapas supported by Śiva-bhakti—steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and regular Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) observance as a vow of purity and focus, offered with humility rather than entitlement.
