Suta Goswami (narrating the phala-śruti/results of Śiva-devotion to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Frames Śiva-bhakti as the supreme fruit beyond artha/kāma: prosperity and progeny are secondary; the highest gain is intensified devotion leading toward liberation.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
The verse teaches that while Śiva’s worship can yield worldly supports (prosperity, family, comfort), its supreme fruit is śivabhakti itself—devotion that aligns the soul (paśu) with the Lord (Pati) and becomes the doorway to liberation.
In the Purāṇic frame, devotion expressed through saguna upāsanā—especially Liṅga-pūjā with mantra and offerings—brings visible benefits, yet the text emphasizes that the highest gain is deepened devotion and Śiva’s anugraha (grace), not merely material results.
The verse implies steady Śiva-bhakti: daily Liṅga worship, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and traditional Śaiva marks like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as supports for continuous remembrance.
