Description of the Battle between Śiva and Śaṅkhacūḍa
Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
It portrays Rudra’s supremacy as Pati (the Lord) whose power is effortless—what appears as “battle” is His līlā, indicating the soul’s bondage (pāśa) is cut swiftly when grace arises.
The verse highlights Saguna Shiva acting in the world for protection and restoration of dharma; Linga-worship trains the devotee to recognize this same Lord as the inner ruler whose grace can ‘sever’ obstacles and egoic defenses.
Contemplate Rudra’s “kṣura” (razor-like) grace while japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—praying that ignorance and inner defenses be cut away; optionally support with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as Shaiva disciplines.
