Sūta Gosvāmin (narrator concluding the chapter to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)

Sthala Purana: This is a colophon (adhyāya-samāpti) marking the close of a narrative unit about Śaṅkhacūḍa’s tapas, its performance, and the consequent marriage; it functions as textual framing rather than a localized liṅga-māhātmya.

Significance: Recitation/śravaṇa of the Purāṇic saṃhitā is treated as puṇya-generating and as a means of orienting the listener toward Śiva-bhakti and dharma.

FAQs

This is a colophon verse marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it frames the narrative as śāstra—meant to be heard with reverence—highlighting tapas (disciplined devotion) and life-events like marriage as arenas where karma and Shiva’s grace unfold.

Though not describing a specific ritual, it closes a chapter centered on tapas and divine outcomes—key themes in Saguna Shiva worship where devotion, vows, and disciplined practice are offered to Lord Shiva (often through liṅga-pūjā) to seek purification and rightful boons under dharma.

The takeaway is the value of tapas supported by Shaiva sādhanā—regular japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), liṅga-abhisheka, and wearing/using rudrākṣa with sincerity—so that worldly duties (like marriage) remain aligned with devotion and restraint.
