Parvati

Tattva Level: pasha

Shiva Form: Sadāśiva

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse frames Śakti’s veiling power (māyā) as the cause of even Viṣṇu’s non-recognition, a common Purāṇic motif used to establish Śiva-Śakti’s supremacy in the battle narrative.

Significance: Soteriological teaching: recognition that bondage is māyā-driven and removed only by divine grace (anugraha) supports Śaiva Siddhānta’s path of śivajñāna through the Lord’s revealing power.

Shakti Form: Pārvatī

FAQs

The verse highlights that intellectual instruction alone cannot pierce māyā; true awakening requires divine grace, aligning with Shaiva thought that bondage persists until the veiling power is transcended.

It implies that devotion to Saguna Shiva (often through Linga worship) steadies the mind and invites grace, enabling the devotee to move beyond māyā’s confusion toward Shiva-tattva.

A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhakti and purity of intent, as a means to overcome māyā’s delusion.
