देवस्तुतिः (Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga-specific verse; it is a doctrinal stuti identifying Śiva as Hara (saṃhāra) and as nirguṇa—transcending guṇas while still performing cosmic dissolution.
Significance: Contemplation of nirguṇa-Śiva purifies fear of dissolution and reframes saṃhāra as compassionate cosmic reset under the Lord’s sovereignty.
Mantra: namo harasvarūpāya bhūtasaṃhārakāriṇe | nirguṇāya namastubhyaṃ śivāyāmita tejase
Type: stotra
Role: destructive
Cosmic Event: Implicit pralaya/laya principle (bhūta-saṃhāra)
The verse praises Shiva as Hara—the dissolver who withdraws the manifested world—and as Nirguṇa, pointing to the Supreme Lord beyond the three guṇas, whose grace leads the soul toward liberation.
Though Shiva is hailed as Nirguṇa, devotees approach Him through Saguna supports such as the Śiva-liṅga and mantra; the verse bridges both—form-based devotion culminating in realization of Shiva’s transcendent nature.
Japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with dhyāna on Shiva’s amita-tejas (limitless radiance), ideally alongside Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha as aids to steady devotion.
