शिवतेजसः समुद्रे बालरूपप्रादुर्भावः (Śiva’s Tejas Manifesting as a Child in the Ocean)

Kemudian sinar berapi Tuhan Śiva—yang lahir dari mata di dahi-Nya—dicampakkan ke lautan masin; serta-merta ia mengambil rupa seorang anak kecil.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Sthala Purana: The verse narrates a theophany: Śiva’s bhālanetra-tejas (third-eye fire) is externalized and, when cast into the ocean, condenses into a bāla (child-form). This functions as an origin-motif for a fierce emanation rather than a Jyotirliṅga installation legend.
Significance: Contemplation of Śiva’s third-eye tejas as the power that burns impurity (mala) and cuts bondage (pāśa), leading the devotee toward fearlessness and inner purification.
Cosmic Event: Emanation of bhālanetra-tejas (third-eye fire) into the ocean; a localized theogonic event with cosmic implications.
It shows that Śiva’s tejas is not mere destruction but a consciously guided divine power that can assume a gentle, accessible form—indicating the Lord’s sovereignty (Pati-tattva) over both formless energy and manifested form.
The verse highlights Saguna expression: the same supreme reality can be worshipped as the Linga (transcendent presence) and also as a manifest form (here, a child-form), teaching devotees to see Śiva’s grace operating through both symbol and story.
A practical takeaway is dhyāna on Śiva’s bhālanetra (ajñā-cakra focus) with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” contemplating how divine tejas becomes grace and protection for the world.
