FAQs

It shows the Shaiva principle that true understanding begins with surrender (praṇipāta) to Parameśvara; reverence stabilizes the mind, and then inquiry—“What is this?”—arises as a purified search for truth.

The act of bowing in all directions emphasizes Shiva’s all-pervasive lordship while still addressing Him as Parameśvara (a worshipable Lord). This aligns with Saguna worship—approaching Shiva with devotion—while hinting that He pervades every direction like the Linga’s universal presence.

A practical takeaway is directional praṇāma (prostration) and inward contemplation before worship—begin pūjā with humble obeisance, then meditate on the object of experience asking “kim idaṃ?” to deepen awareness of Shiva’s presence.
