Description of the Viṣṇu–Brahmā Dispute and Brahmā’s Confusion
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Cosmic Event: mythic time dilation: a hundred years elapse during the search
It highlights how the bound soul can wander in delusion (vimohitaḥ) for vast stretches of time, yet remain spiritually stalled; liberation arises when one turns from भ्रम (aimless roaming) toward Śiva as Pati, the remover of pāśa (bondage).
The verse contrasts long wandering in confusion with the stabilizing refuge of Saguna Śiva worship—Linga-upāsanā gives the mind a fixed support (ālambana), helping it move from moha toward clarity and grace.
A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with focused Linga-dhyāna to stop mental wandering; if observing Śaiva discipline, apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and maintain daily remembrance of Śiva to counter vimohā (delusion).
