सेवातत्त्वप्रश्नः — The Question of Whom to Serve (Sevā) for the Removal of Suffering
तादृशानि न तीर्थानि न देवा मृच्छिलामयाः । ते पुनंत्युरुकालेन विज्ञानी दर्शनादपि
tādṛśāni na tīrthāni na devā mṛcchilāmayāḥ | te punaṃtyurukālena vijñānī darśanādapi
Yang demikian itu bukanlah tīrtha yang sejati, dan para dewa yang sekadar diperbuat daripada tanah liat dan batu pun bukanlah (ketuhanan) yang hakiki. Ia menyucikan hanya setelah waktu yang lama; tetapi orang yang mengetahui Kebenaran menyucikan bahkan dengan sekali pandang sahaja.

Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: General tīrtha-mahātmyas are relativized: external tīrthas and pratimā-devatā purify gradually, whereas sat-darśana of a jñānī (Śiva-bhakta/Śiva-jñānī) grants immediate purification through grace.
Significance: Elevates satsanga and darśana of realized devotees as a living tīrtha; encourages seeking jñāna and śiva-anugraha beyond mere place-based merit.
Role: teaching
It teaches that external sanctity (places and images) purifies gradually through prolonged practice, while the darśana and company of a realized knower—one established in Shiva-knowledge—can purify immediately by awakening inner clarity and devotion.
It does not reject Saguna worship; it warns against reducing divinity to mere material form. In Shaiva practice, the Linga is a sacred support for devotion and realization—its purpose is fulfilled when it leads the worshipper to living Shiva-consciousness and right knowledge.
Seek satsanga and darśana of Shiva-bhaktas and jñānins, and pair it with steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) so that purification becomes inner and immediate rather than only time-bound and external.
