Instruction on Rudra–Viṣṇu Unity and Divine Injunctions
यस्तु लिंगसमीपे तु कार्यं किंचित्करोति च । तस्य पुण्यफलं वक्तुं न शक्नोमि महामुने
yastu liṃgasamīpe tu kāryaṃ kiṃcitkaroti ca | tasya puṇyaphalaṃ vaktuṃ na śaknomi mahāmune
Wahai maha muni, sesiapa yang melakukan walau sedikit perbuatan di hadapan Śiva-liṅga—khidmat, persembahan, atau tugas suci—pahala kebajikannya begitu luas sehingga aku tidak mampu menghuraikannya sepenuhnya.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: General Liṅga-sannidhi-māhātmya: even a small act (kiñcit kārya) done near the Liṅga yields immeasurable puṇya—an idiom of boundless grace attached to sacred presence.
Significance: Frames temple service and even minor offerings as spiritually incalculable when performed in Śiva’s immediate presence; encourages seva and pilgrimage worship.
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that even minimal devotion or service performed in the sanctified presence of the Śiva-liṅga yields immeasurable puṇya, emphasizing Śiva’s grace and the potency of sacred proximity (sannidhya).
The liṅga is Saguna Śiva’s accessible, worshipful form; the verse declares that actions done near the liṅga—offering, cleaning, circumambulation, prayer—carry extraordinary spiritual efficacy due to Śiva’s manifest presence.
Perform simple liṅga-sevā: offer water (jala/abhiṣeka), flowers, bilva leaves, lamps, or do pradakṣiṇā and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a humble, devotional mind.
