Description of Kāma’s Marriage

The verse highlights how desire naturally rushes toward its object—Kāma toward Rati—illustrating the pull of rāga (attachment). In a Shaiva reading, it implicitly contrasts worldly attraction with the higher aim of disciplining desire so devotion and knowledge can mature toward liberation under Shiva’s grace.
Though the verse is not directly about the Liṅga, it supports the Purana’s broader theme: the mind drawn outward by kāma is steadied by Saguna Shiva worship (Liṅga-upāsanā, mantra, and bhakti). Centering attention on Shiva redirects attachment into sacred devotion.
A practical takeaway is sense-restraint supported by japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and simple daily Shaiva observances such as applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and mindful mantra-recitation to sublimate rāga into bhakti.
